The evolution of network technologies is a constant one, having come a long way from dial up, ISDN, 10Mbps LAN, and PSTN. In 2014, however, George Siamos, Extreme Networks Country Manager Australia and New Zealand, predicts an acceleration to this evolution, citing massive expansion of cloud-hosted applications and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) markets, and the growing interest in software-defined networking (SDN).
An article from Techday’s James Henderson details Siamos’s predictions for the New Year, which may see a change in the landscape of providing reliable network support in Baltimore.
In the article, Siamos cites the maturity of the BYOD and cloud movements as major motivators for their adoption in 2013. This resulted in confidence among their buyers, who vendors were able to successfully equip with an understanding of the problems each technology resolved.
